BAD NEWS: Ratio Games is closing down forever until further notice. The reason is because the forum has been a burden since day one, and because I do not think I am mature enough to run the forum. I will not be deleting it, but it will be in "under construction" mode.

Bad News: Ratio Games forums will be closing forever until further notice. The reason is because this forum has been a burden since day one, and also because I do not think I am mature enough to run it. I will not be deleting it, but I will put it in under construction mode until I am ready to run it again. The good news, though, is that the technical issues have been fixed. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused for my co- admin, and to our loyal members.

Nintendo Gameboy Gamebo10

Anybody remember the ORIGINAL gameboy?

I wasn't even in existance when this particular model was released in 1989, but that doesn't mean I'm not a fan!

Do you even know what sold the system? You'd think that there is not a possible way the B&W Gameboy could've been successful with all those color portable systems around, but think again!

The Gameboy had an ever-lasting battery life, while the others (color portables) had short ones. People wanted to play these for hours, and the gameboy allowed just that.

So the long life of the "Game That Could" was what sold the system.

As far as I know, the gameboy came in four colors:

Gray
Yellow
Red (Rarest)
Blue

If there were other colors of this model besides the ones above, tell me, and I will add them to the list.

The system also had tons of games, a lot of them being classics. Super Mario Land, Donkey Kong Land, Wario Land, and others paved the way for this best selling system. Super Mario Land was a blast when the gameboy was first released, and people were happy to finally play Mario outside of their living rooms. Donkey Kong Land was a breakthrough in portable gaming. It supported realistic graphics similar to Donkey Kong Country, even if they were in B&W. It proves that the Gameboy is more powerful than one might think.

I now own the Original gameboy, (owned it since my 15th birthday) and I have only 2 games for it. Super Mario Land, and Donkey Kong Land.
